MORE NEWSPAPER REPORTS OF HEALINGS AS PASTOR STEVE VISITS EMMANUEL CHURCH, MANORBIER IN SOUTH WALES

It was a privilege on Sunday to have Rev Steve Evans from Living Faith (Methodist) Church near Wigan. God has been using Steve in amazing ways recently, and Sunday’s services were no exception. Steve preached with power and conviction, a message calling for total 100% commitment to follow Jesus and live a life of integrity based completely on the Bible. Both in the morning and evening, during the times of prayer for people which followed, God could be seen to be working in people’s lives, sometimes in dramatic ways.

One lady was prayed for who’d had a severe injury to her leg the week before. Cellulitis had set in around the wound and she had been told that they would probably have to very soon operate on it. After being prayed for, her hospital visit that afternoon confirmed that the cellulitis had gone down a lot, much to the nurse’s surprise. It was confirmed by the next day that she no longer needed to be operated on, contrary to medical expectations.

In the evening, a few people had prayer for one of their legs to grow to the same length as the other to cure their back pain. The congregation watched in amazement as one man’s leg in particular shot out instantly a few centimetres as Steve commanded it to grow in the name of Jesus. Even those who had been skeptical had to admit what was so obviously happening before their eyes! There was a definite sense of God’s presence to heal and bless, and lots of people were prayed for and received ministry straight from the heart of God for their deepest needs.

The message is that God is alive and active today, as much as ever. There have been times in the history of Britain when God has been obviously seen to be working in people’s lives on a large scale, like in the days of the Welsh revival or through Smith Wigglesworth, the famous English evangelist. Nowadays many people are skeptical about even the very existence of God.

But the fact is that many Christians throughout the world have experienced ongoing, definite touches from God, miraculous healings, astounding answers to prayer – these things can be a part of normal, everyday life! God is still the same today as He was in the days of the Welsh revival – it’s people’s attitudes and openness to Him which have changed. God does not force Himself on people – He gently, lovingly waits in the background to be invited into our lives and allowed to work things out for our good. When we genuinely seek Him out, He does not fail to show up!

Steve preached from Luke 14v26&27 where Jesus says “Anyone who comes to Me but refuses to let go of father, mother, spouse, children, brothers, sisters – yes, even one’s own self! – can’t be My disciple. Anyone who won’t shoulder his own cross and follow behind Me can’t be My disciple.” (Message version) Jesus goes on to talk about counting the cost before making a decision. He sums it up in v33: (Message version) “Simply put, if you’re not willing to take what is dearest to you, whether plans or people, and kiss it goodbye, you can’t be My disciple”!

In other words, when we choose to follow Jesus Christ, He wants us to completely surrender the whole of ourselves and our lives to Him, trust Him to work everything out for us, realise that He knows what’s best for us more than we do ourselves, and give Him every part of our lives. No half-heartedness there! Jesus is either worthy of us giving Him all we’ve got, or He’s not! He demands no less. Not a very popular demand – but He’s not looking for popularity. He’s looking for men and women who are fully sold out for Him and will do whatever He asks them to.

This Sunday there will be another healing meeting at 6pm in addition to the usual 10.15am service; both will be led by Pastor Jonathan Fiddy. This will be another opportunity for people to come and receive prayer for healing, whether for physical, emotional or spiritual needs. Come and experience a touch from God! Pastor Fiddy is available on 871975, and the website is www.emmanuelgospelministries.org.
